As a young girl, Dr. Marisa Echaniz fell in love with nonprofit work. She grew up in a home of modest means where she developed her strong sense of devotion for the nonprofit sector from her mom, who always encouraged all her children to donate whatever they had, be that money, time, or effort.
Inspired to help others, Dr. Echaniz obtained her Medical Degree. When she searched for a city to practice in, she was mesmerized by Denver as she hiked in the Rocky Mountains, biked all around the city, and met such friendly, open, and outdoorsy people – the city of Denver and state of Colorado felt like home. Dr. Echaniz has worked in Internal Medicine for over 20 years. She finds each patient’s story uniquely interesting, and being able to play a role in bringing them back to optimal health brings her great fulfillment.
Yet, while Dr. Echaniz enjoys helping her patients at the hospital, in philanthropy, her heart is drawn to helping children — cooking breakfast for them at the local teen shelter, donating her time wherever needed, and chairing volunteer activities at her son’s school. Nothing makes Dr. Echaniz happier than giving to children who need a helping hand or a bit of encouragement. Currently, Dr. Echaniz is an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and practices as an Academic Hospitalist at Denver Health.
Dr. Echaniz has vast medical experience that will add valuable expertise to Kyle’s Mountain House, however, she was especially chosen as her spirit of giving to others is unmatched. In addition to her busy life as wife, mother, and medical professional, she heads up committees to give back to others, volunteers at her son’s school, and is the first to raise her hand to help. Her energy and enthusiasm for life is contagious and we are exceptionally blessed to have her on our team.
